I’ve had a great idea!!!!
The Southern Scooter Challenge (a charity scooter ride from Bluff to Queenstown) is 9 months away which gives us time to prepare.
Last time I rode there and back again (1450Km’s in 6 days dressed as a white rabbit) on a $100, 50cc scooter from the 70’s so I thought how I can make the next event a little more of a challenge.
The answer is simple!
The Monkey Butt 2.250.
The plan is for a team of ## number of intrepid hero’s (idiots), to ride to and from the event on monkey bike’s wearing monkey costumes.
“How is that more of a challenge I hear you say”
Well, this time we will get to the start via Nelson! (Oh yes and we will be self-supported and camping!)
Here is the Route.
Rangiora – Picton – Queens Charlotte Drive - Nelson (430 km’s, an easy day to settle into the ride).
Nelson – Buller gorge – west Coast - Fox Glacier (500 km’s, on awesome roads).
Fox Glacier – Wanaka – Roxburgh – Invercargill (530 Km’s, includes one NZ’s best rides)
Invercargill to Bluff – The Southern Scooter Challenge to Queenstown (245 km’s with 100’s of others)
(Optional extra: a 90 km round trip to Glenorchy and back)
Queenstown – Tekapo – Geraldine – Rangiora/ Chch (520 km’s, home to a hero’s welcome)
2,225 Km’s in 5 days. (not including the short ride outs for fun, of an evening!)
See what a great idea it is?
Registration for the southern challenge opens from 1st June 2019 with the main event on the 11th or 18th of September 2021. (Registrations will be capped at x100 scooters this year). Hopefully, we can raise a reasonable amount of cash for the Cancer Society and have some fun along the way.
So, what do you think?
Are you up to the challenge?
Can I add you to the numbers?
You would be MAD not too!
Get in quick numbers limited to just 25.
